Our favourite walks from the doorstep.
Kingston.
Head over the hill up Juggs lane (behind the Swan Pub) towards Kingston Windmill. You can return the same way enjoying amazing views to the sea and pub on way home. OR head into Kingston village and return via Spring Barn Farm. Approx 2-3 miles, 1 hour easy walk.
OR Can be extended by heading up to Kingston ridge. Or even further by following the ridge all the way down to Southease train station and getting the train home. Approx 4-5 hours and about 10 miles or more.
River Ouse.
A flat loop as good on bike as on foot. Head past Pells Pool in town to the river, then north along tow path. Go as far as Hamsey (hamlet of a few houses) and take the small road to Offham, then the pathway back through enchanting woods with banks to climb up for kids. Come back through Landport estate into Lewes. Approx 4 miles.
There's shorter version where you head to woods before reaching Hamsey that is about half the length.
Glynde.
Walk through down the high street all the way Cliffe and up the steep road next to ‘Bag of Books’ up to the golf club (you can drive this bit but they don’t let you park up there so you’ll leave the car in town). Follow chalky downs, down the valley and over the ridge to Glynde and hop on the train back. 3-4 miles approx 2 hours.
You can extend it by walking back along northern loop the ridge and back through the golf course, dropping down into Lewes.
